Wisconsin residents hold our first responders in high regard, and public safety is a top priority in the 52nd District. I have the utmost respect for our law enforcement officers. They have difficult jobs and are worthy of our support. Our fine local public safety agencies are worthy of credit for maintaining the peacefulness of our Fond du Lac-area communities, and maintaining it as a desirable community to live, work, and raise a family.
Recently we have seen nationwide debate and protest over the public’s relationship with law enforcement. This debate has too frequently turned from peaceful protest into lawlessness, vandalism, looting, injuries, and even deaths. Wisconsin has not been immune from these challenges as we have seen in Madison, Milwaukee, and Kenosha.
Since safety of our communities is a basic responsibility of government, as a state we must make sure our safety personnel are supported with appropriate training and sufficient resources to effectively perform their duties.
