Our growing population of senior citizens is a valuable asset within our communities.  It is imperative for the legislature to give attention to this sizable portion of the population.  A recent survey of Americans age 60+ showed that their largest concerns are maintaining their physical and mental health, as well as being able to remain in their own homes.  This is an important reason why property taxes must be kept in check for our seniors who are largely on fixed incomes.  Additionally, I have voted to maintain our state’s SeniorCare prescription drug program, a plan far superior to the federal plan.  I have been supportive of new laws that have expanded care programs for those experiencing the difficulties of dementia and its related diseases.
